Browns Prepared To Name Brandon Weeden The Starter Before Training Camp?

Tom Reed of the Cleveland Plain Dealer writes that the Browns will almost certainly name Brandon Weeden the team’s starting quarterback within the first few days of training camp.

Reed adds that there’s not going to be a quarterback controversy between Colt McCoy and Weeden, which leaves Seneca Wallace cemented as a backup quarterback option. Reed also mentions that Wallace’s 2012 salary of $2.4 million makes him more likely to remain with the team. McCoy is set to make $540,000 for the upcoming season and has better trade value at this point than a 31-year-old.

There has been numerous rumors circulating that the Browns will deal McCoy at some point in the near future, but the team is prepared to have him at least for a portion of their training camp.
