The Cleveland Browns announced Wednesday that they’ve promoted TE Matt Lengel to their active roster. The Browns also signed OL Victor Salako to their practice squad.
The Browns’ practice squad now consists of:
- RB Terrence Magee
- CB Darius Hillary
- OT Zach Sterup
- DB C.J. Smith
- DE Tyron Holmes
- WR Bug Howard
- LB Austin Calitro
- WR Rannell Hall
- OT Andrew Wylie
- OL Victor Salako
Lengel, 26, wound up signing on with the Bengals as an undrafted free agent out of Eastern Kentucky back in May of last year. He spent his rookie season on the team’s practice squad before returning to the team on a future/reserve contract this past January.
The Bengals once again waived him coming out of the preseason and later signed him to their practice squad. Lengel was eventually signed off of the Bengals’ practice squad by the Patriots in November of last year.
New England brought Lengel back on a one-year, exclusive rights contract this past April, but he was placed on injured reserve a few months ago. The Patriots just recently elected to cut him loose with an injury settlement.
Cleveland signed Lengel to their practice squad a few weeks ago.
In 2016, Lengel appeared in six games and caught two passes for 22 yards receiving and one touchdown.
