Browns Promote WR Mario Alford To Active Roster

The Cleveland Browns announced Saturday that they’ve promoted WR Mario Alford to their active roster.

Alford, 24, was taken in the seventh round of last year’s draft by the Bengals. He’s currently in the second year of his four-year, $2,339,104 rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $525,000 for the 2016 season.

The Bengals waived Alford with an injury designation in the final week of the preseason before later waiving him from injured reserve with a settlement. Alford had a brief stint on the Jets’ practice squad before joining the Browns’ taxi squad earlier in the week.

Last year, Alford appeared in one game for the Bengals caught one pass for 15 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
