Browns QB Jason Campbell Has A Roster Bonus Due On Thursday

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk points out that Browns QB Jason Campbell is owed a $250,000 roster bonus on Thursday.

It’s unlikely that the Browns will head into training camp with Campbell in line to be their starter next, especially with Brian Hoyer coming back and the talk of them drafting a prospect this year. With this in mind, there is a decent chance that the Browns could elect to part ways with him later in the week and take the cap saving.

Campbell, 32, signed a two-year contract $3.75 million and included $500,000 guaranteed. He has a base salary of $3 million coming his way in 2014 to go along with a cap figure of $3.25 million.

Cleveland stands to gain all $3.25 million of that back if they were to part ways with Campbell this offeseason, according to OverTheCap.com.

Last year, Campbell appeared in nine games, completing 56.8 percent of his passes for 2,015 yards, 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
