Browns QB Josh McCown Expected To Miss 2-4 Weeks With Shoulder Injury

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Browns QB Josh McCown’s timeframe for recovery from strain and hairline fracture in his non-throwing shoulder is 2-4 weeks.

  • According to Rapoport, McCown fought to harness his left shoulder and play today, but the Browns said no.

Reports mentioned that the Browns were not expected to place him on injured reserve and Browns HC Hue Jackson referred to him has week-to-week with a clavicle issue.

Cleveland is starting rookie QB Cody Kessler today against the Dolphins, but they elected to bring in veteran backup Charlie Whitehurst for at least the time being.

McCown, 37, signed a three-year, $14 million contract that includes $6.25 million guaranteed with the Browns back in March of last year. He stands to make base salaries of $4.375 million (2016) and $3.625 million (2017) over the duration of the agreement.

In 2016, McCown has thrown for 260 yards while completing 60.6 percent of his passes to go along with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
