Browns QB Kevin Hogan Demoted To Third String

Adam Schefter and Field Yates are reporting that the Browns have demoted QB Kevin Hogan to third string and promoted Cody Kessler to team’s backup quarterback to DeShone Kizer.

This comes shortly after the Browns announced Wednesday that Kizer will return as their starting quarterback for Week 7’s game.

Cleveland has been shuffling their quarterback depth chart all year, so nothing comes as much of a surprise at this point.

Hogan, 24, is a former fifth-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2016. He was waived coming out of the preseason last year and was later signed to the Browns’ practice squad before being called up a few months into the 2016 season.

In 2017, Hogan has appeared in three games and thrown for 517 yards while completing 61.3 percent of his passes to go along with four touchdowns and five interceptions. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 33 quarterback out of 34 qualifying players ahead of only Kizer.
