Browns Received A Trade Offer Of A 2nd Rd Pick & Players For Josh Gordon Last Year

Former Browns CEO Joe Banner tells the Cleveland Plain Dealer that he and GM Michael Lombardi wanted to trade WR Josh Gordon due to the numerous drug tests he failed.

However, there were a number of people within the Browns’ organization, including then coach Rob Chudzinski, who felt that they could prevent any further issues involving Gordon.

This obviously proved to not be the case as Gordon is now facing a year-long suspension following another failed drug test.

According to Banner, the best offer they received for Gordon was a second-round pick and players, but they ultimately elected to keep the young receiver around.

Gordon, 23, is coming off of a breakout season and is clearly the Browns best offensive weapon. Although, there are some obvious concerns about him moving forward as any further issues could result in an indefinite ban from the league.

Last year, Gordon caught 87 receptions for 1,646 yards receiving and scored nine touchdowns for Cleveland.
