Browns Release OL Matt McCants From IR With Settlement

The Cleveland Browns announced Tuesday that they’ve released OL Matt McCants from injured reserve with a settlement.

McCants, 28, is a former sixth-round pick of the Giants back in 2012. He lasted just over a year in New York before he was waived at the start of the 2013 and signed to the Raiders’ practice squad.

In total, McCants spent over three years in Oakland before he was waived in November of last year and later claimed by the Browns. McCants’ stay in Cleveland was limited to just a few weeks before he was once again claimed off of waivers, this time by the Bears.

The Browns did, however, bring McCants back this offseason but they later placed him on injured reserve in August.

In 2016, McCants was active for four games and played a total of 38 snaps, according to Pro Football Focus.
