Browns Release WR Earl Bennett

The Browns announced the release of veteran WR Earl Bennett on Tuesday.

Bennett, 27, signed a one-year contract with Cleveland close to a month ago, but it appears as though they are comfortable moving forward with their veteran options like Miles Austin and Nate Burleson.

There was speculation that Bennett could end up with the Buccaneers after they hired Lovie Smith a few months ago, but that wound up not being an option. Bennett still has time to catch on with a new team in the weeks leading up to the start of training camp.

Last year, Bennett appeared in 15 games and totaled 32 receptions for 243 yards receiving and four touchdowns. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 72 receiver in the league in 2013.
