Browns Reportedly Have An “Astronomical Grade” On Texas A&M DE Myles Garrett

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that there’s a “real chance” the Browns will not use their first-round pick on a quarterback next year.

Instead, Schefter spoke to one source who said the Browns have an “astronomical grade” on Texas A&M DE Myles Garrett and are “enamored” with him.

Schefter writes that by drafting Garrett with the No. 1 overall pick, the Browns could upgrade their defense at the cost of getting the top quarterback prospect in next year’s draft class.

Even so, Schefter says that the Browns are still doing their due diligence on quarterbacks and they have reportedly spent an inordinate amount of time in South Bend scouting Notre Dame QB DeShone Kizer.

If Cleveland passes on a quarterback at the top of the draft next year, Schefter mentions that some believe the Browns will make a run at Patriots backup QB Jimmy Garoppolo.

The Browns are currently 0-12 and in a great position to secure the No. 1 overall pick next year. Although, they do have another first-round selection to work with next year after they traded back with the Eagles several months ago.

Garrett is widely considered to be the No. 1 prospect in the 2017 draft class. During his three-year college career, Garrett has recorded 140 tackles, 31 sacks, an interception, five pass defenses, a fumble recovery and seven forced fumbles.

We’ll have more regarding the Browns and potential draft targets as the news is available.
