Mary Kay Cabot reports that the Browns do not want to surrender their first-rounder in 2016 to land Marcus Mariota.
Yesterday, Pat McManamon of ESPN reported that the Browns offered their No. 12 and No. 19 overall picks to the Titans for the No. 2 overall selection. However, this report was later refuted Paul Kuharsky.
The Titans have made it clear that they’re willing to listen to trade offers for the No. 2 pick, but even though the Browns have two first-round selections to work with, it sounds like they could pass and pursue other quarterback options such as trading for Eagles QB Sam Bradford.
Peter King of MMQB reported this morning that an NFL source told him late Wednesday night that the Browns believe they have a good chance to trade for Bradford before the draft, which could explain why they’re reluctant to part with a future first-round pick to get Mariota.
One other consideration for the Browns is that HC Mike Pettine told Andrea Kremer that “opinions on Marcus Mariota are varied inside this building.”
If there are people within the Browns who aren’t sold on Mariota, it really wouldn’t make a lot of sense for them to go all-in on a trade.
