Browns Rookie CB Howard Wilson Won’t Need Surgery, Could Return Midseason

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media is reporting that it was determined Browns fourth-round CB Howard Wilson won’t require surgery for a fractured kneecap that he suffered during the team’s recent minicamp.

Wilson reportedly got a number of opinions on his injury and there’s now a chance he could return midseason.

According to Rapoport, Wilson’s slightly fractured kneecap wasn’t as bad as initially feared and his recovery time should end up being around 12-16 weeks.

Howard was selected with the No. 126 overall pick by the Browns in this year’s draft. Cleveland actually traded up in round four to get Wilson.

According to OverTheCap.com, King will receive a four-year contract worth $3,003,144, which includes a signing bonus of $603,144.

During his college career at Houston, Wilson recorded 107 tackles, 3.5 tackles for a loss, nine interceptions with one being returned for a touchdown, 15 pass defenses and two fumble recoveries over the course of three seasons and 27 total games.
