Browns Rookie QB Cody Kessler Expected To Play In Week 6’s Game

Update:

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Browns rookie QB Cody Kessler is expected to play in team’s Week 6 game against the Titans.

  • Sources tell Rapoport that everything checked out okay for Kessler.

Browns HC Hue Jackson told reporters after Sunday’s loss to the Patriots that rookie QB Cody Kessler is “day to day” with a chest/rib injury, per Mary Kay Cabot.

  • Jackson added that Kessler isn’t dealing with any broken bones but will still undergo an MRI or further examination on Monday, per Cabot.

Browns rookie QB Cody Kessler was taken to the locker room during Sunday’s game with chest and rib injuries. The Browns have him listed as questionable to return to the game right now.

Veteran Charlie Whitehurst replaced Kessler, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see Terrelle Pryor take some snaps at quarterback throughout the game.

Kessler, 23, was taken with the No. 93 overall pick by the Browns a few weeks ago. He was an interesting selection for the Browns, considering that they elected to trade out of the No. 2 spot and passed on Carson Wentz.

Kessler signed four-year contract worth $3,004,788 that included a signing bonus of $664,788 with the Browns.

Entering today’s game, Kessler has completed 67.1 percent of his passes for 467 yards to go along with one touchdown and an interception.

We’ll have more regarding Kessler as the news is available.
