Browns Set To Activate WR Josh Gordon For Week 13

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, citing a source informed of the team’s thinking, reports that the Browns will activate WR Josh Gordon from the Reserve/Commissioner Exempt List next week, which means he’ll make his long-awaited return in Week 13.

According to Rapoport, Gordon has “looked great” by all accounts after returning to practice last week.

While Gordon is expected to see game action, Rapoport adds that you can expect the Browns to ease him into their offense, considering how long he’s been out of the NFL.

I felt pretty good,” Gordon told reporters on Friday. “I think I knocked that rust off prior to getting back into the building so that was what I was looking forward to do.”

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell reinstated Gordon on a conditional basis a few weeks ago and the expectation has been that he would get some practice in starting last week and possibly be available for the team’s Week 13 game against the Chargers in Los Angeles on Dec. 3, so this doesn’t come as a big surprise.

Gordon, 26, is a former second-round supplemental pick of the Browns back in 2012. He would have already been an unrestricted free agent had he not missed so much time due to suspensions, but the Browns hold his rights for two more years, given that he has just two accrued seasons.

In 2014, Gordon appeared in five games and caught 24 passes for 303 yards receiving, but didn’t score a touchdown.
