Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Browns and DE John Hughes have reached an agreement on a four-year contract extension.
- According to Rapoport, Hughes new contract includes $14.4 million in new money.
- Mary Kay Cabot reports that Hughes receives $3.56 million guaranteed and a $2.5 million signing bonus. The agreement can max out at $15 million.
- The agreement is still contingent upon Hughes passing a physical.
Hughes, 25, was taken in the third round of the 2012 NFL draft. He had one year remaining on his four-year, $2.7 million rookie contract and would have made a base salary of $660,000 for the 2015 season.
Last year, Hughes was limited to appearing in just five games after he sustained a knee injury in October that led to him being placed on short-term injured reserve.
We’ll have the contract details posted as the news is available.
