Browns Sign FB Dan Vitale Off Buccaneers’ Practice Squad

The Cleveland Browns announced Friday that they’ve signed FB Dan Vitale off of the Buccaneers’ practice squad.

Vitale takes the roster spot of G Joel Bitonio, who was placed on injured reserve with a mid-foot sprain.

Vitale, 22, was taken in the sixth-round of this year’s NFL draft by the Buccaneers. He’s currently in the first year of his four-year, $2.47 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $450,000 for the 2016 season.

The Buccaneers elected to cut him loose coming out of the preseason and he was later claimed him off of waivers the Bills. Vitale returned to the Buccaneers and signed on to their practice squad at the start of the regular season.

During his college career at Northwestern, Vitale caught 135 passes for 1,427 yards receiving and 11 touchdowns over the course of four years.
