Browns Sign LB Cam Johnson To Practice Squad, Cut DL Kelcy Quarles

The Cleveland Browns announced that they’ve signed LB Cam Johnson to their practice squad on Tuesday.

  • The Browns released DL Kelcy Quarles from the practice squad to make room for Johnson.

Cleveland’s practice squad consists of:

  1. LB Cam Johnson
  2. QB Matt Blanchard
  3. DB Kendall James
  4. WR Darius Jennings
  5. OT Andrew McDonald
  6. OT Darrian Miller
  7. LB Hayes Pullard
  8. DB De’Ante Saunders
  9. DE Dylan Winn
  10. G Garth Gerhart

The Browns brought Johnson in for a workout last week along with LB Jayson DiManche and DL Cap Capi, so was clearly on their radar.

Johnson, 25, is a former seventh-round pick of the 49ers back in 2012. He was unfortunately unable to make the 53-man roster in his rookie season, but later signed to their practice squad.

San Francisco wound up sending him to the Colts in return for 2015 conditional seventh-round pick that became Geoff Swaim.

Indianapolis elected to re-sign Johnson to an exclusive rights tender back in March before waiving him as they cut their roster down to 75 players.
