Browns Sign OL Kitt O’Brien, Waive/Injured G Chris Barker

The Cleveland Browns announced that they’ve signed OL Kitt O’Brien and waived G Chris Barker with an injury designation.

Should Barker pass through waivers unclaimed on Monday, he would revert to the team’s injured reserve list.

Barker, 26, originally signed on with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Nevada in May of 2013. However, he was unable to make the final 53-man roster and was placed on waivers at the start of the 2013 season.

New England later claimed him off of waivers and he’s been on and off of the team’s practice squad for the past few years. The Patriots brought Barker back on a future/reserve contract this past February before cutting him loose yesterday.

In 2015, Barker appeared in just one game for the Patriots.

O’Brien, 27, originally signed on with the Colts as an undrafted free agent out of Ball State back in 2015. He was on and off of the Colts’ practice squad during his rookie year but later returned to the team on a future/reserve contract last season.

Unfortunately, O’Brien was once again cut loose at the start of the regular season before he was eventually added to their practice squad mid-December.

O’Brien recently worked out for the Dolphins but left Miami without a contract.

O’Brien has yet to appear in an NFL game.
