Browns Sign Rookie LB Scooby Wright To Practice Squad, Cut P Michael Palardy

The Cleveland Browns officially signed rookie LB Scooby Wright to their practice squad and released P Michael Palardy from the unit.

  • PFT adds that Wright will make the same weekly salary of $26,470 as if he was on their active roster.

The Browns’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. TE Connor Hamlett
  2. OL Dan France
  3. WR Darius Jennings
  4. QB Kevin Hogan
  5. DB Ed Reynolds
  6. OL Anthony Fabiano
  7. CB Trey Caldwell
  8. LB Scooby Wright
  9. RB Terrell Watson
  10. WR Josh Boyce

The Browns were hoping to sign him to their practice squad had he cleared waivers.

Wright, 22, was taken with the No. 250 overall pick by the Browns this past May. He was in the first year of his four-year, $2.4 million contract and set to make a base salary of $450,000 for the 2016 season when he was cut loose on Tuesday.

During his college career at Arizona, Wright recorded 270 tackles, 43.5 tackles for a loss, 17 sacks, an interception, five forced fumbles, a recovery and a pass defense.

Wright has yet to appear in an NFL game.

Palardy, 24, originally signed on with the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee back in 2014. He lasted less than a month in New York before catching on with the Raiders.

The Rams later signed him off of the Raiders’ practice squad and brought him back on a future/reserve deal before cutting him at the start of the 2015 season. The Ravens signed him to a contract last week.

Palardy caught on briefly with the Panthers but was waived after the team signed veteran P Mike Scifres to a contract in June. Shortly after that, the Ravens signed him to a contract before waiving him soon after.

The Colts signed him for a brief period before he later joined the Browns.

Palardy has yet to appear in an NFL game.
