Leonhard, 31, had previously mentioned that he had spoken to NFL teams including the Packers about potential opportunities, but nothing developed with Green Bay.
New Browns HC Mike Pettine is more than familiar with Leonhard given that they have spent time together in both Buffalo and with the Jets.
Last year, Leonhard appeared in all 16 games for the Bills last season and recorded 41 tackles, six passes defensed and four interceptions.
