Browns Sign TE Rob Housler To A One-Year Deal

Update:

The Cleveland Browns announced the signing of TE Rob Housler on Thursday.

  • Aaron Wilson reports that Housler receives a one-year contract worth $1.76 million.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Browns and former Cardinals TE Rob Housler have reached an agreement on a one-year deal.

  • Housler’s market picked up in recent weeks, as he wound up meeting with the Bengals, Falcons, and Ravens before the Browns hosted him for a visit last week.

Housler, 26, is a former third-round pick of the Cardinals who played out his rookie contract with the team.

Many expected him to be a break out player in recent years, but Bruce Arians has never utilized the tight end position all that much in his offense, which could be one of the reason why his production was limited last year.

In 2014, Housler appeared in 15 games and caught nine passes for 129 yards receiving for the Cardinals. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 48 tight end out of 67 qualifying players.
