Browns Starting Josh McCown Over Johnny Manziel In Week 3

The Cleveland Browns announced Wednesday that veteran QB Josh McCown has cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol and will be the team’s starting quarterback in Week 3.

It’s somewhat surprising to see the Browns go back to McCown after Johnny Manziel has looked pretty good in his absence. However, the coaching staff indicated that starting McCown was still a possibility once he had been cleared of his concussion.

McCown wound up sustaining an injury during the Browns’ first offensive series of the season. He completed 5-of-8 passes for 49 yards and ran three times for 23 yards.

Meanwhile, Manziel has thrown for 354 yards while completing 53.8 percent of his passes to go along with 36 yards rushing, three touchdowns, and an interception.
