Browns Looking To Trade Back From No. 8, Possibly Target Treadwell, Conklin or Cook?

Update:

Alex Marvez of FOX Sports reports that one situation worth keeping an eye on is the Browns trading back from No. 8 overall and possibly targeting Michigan State QB Connor Cook later on in the first round.

This isn’t the first we’ve seen about the idea of Cleveland dropping back and grabbing a quarterback later on in the draft.

Recent reports have suggested a few teams including the the Browns could consider moving back into the latter portion of round one and grabbing a quarterback, considering that first-round picks come with fifth-year options that can prove to be valuable in the coming years.

The Vikings actually took this approach with Teddy Bridgewater just a few years ago, so we’ll have to see if this ends up being an option for the Browns in the coming days.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports continues to hear that the Browns are open to trading out of the No. 8 overall pick and moving back into the teens.

La Canfora mentions that the Browns could move back consider taking either Ole Miss WR Laquon Treadwell or MSU OT Jack Conklin.

Shortly after the Browns completed the trade with the Eagles for the No. 2 overall pick, reports mentioned that Cleveland may not be done in regards to moving back and acquiring more picks.

Matt Miller of B/R spoke with a rival GM after the trade was announced who mentioned that “Cleveland isn’t done trading.” The GM seemed to think the Browns will try and package some of their current picks for future selections.

Dane Brugler also mentioned that the Browns could still trade out of the No. 8 spot and look to control more of the 2017 draft.

As of now, the Browns have 12 picks to work with in the 2016 draft, which is currently tied with the 49ers for the most selections. This includes six picks in the top 100 overall, so they could still put together a strong draft class in 2016, considering that it’s believed to be a fairly deep class.
