Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the the Browns are suspending CB K’Waun Williams two weeks, which includes one game check, for conduct detrimental to the team stemming from a dispute over his availability.

This comes after a report from Mary Kay Cabot, who mentioned that the team and Williams are at odds over the events that took place during the team’s preseason opener last week. Cabot says that Williams’ future with the Browns is now in jeopardy.

We’ll talk about that at a different time,’‘ Hue Jackson said Tuesday. “I just think there are a lot of mixed messages that are going on as far as all that’s concerned. We’ll deal with it, and I’m sure we’ll all talk about it at the appropriate time.”

A source tells Cabot that Williams suffered an ankle injury during the team’s scrimmage at Ohio State and received treatment afterwards by a member of the Browns training staff.

Williams ultimately decided his ankle was too sore to play, and scratched himself from last week’s preseason game, but this did not sit well with the Browns, who announced that he was inactive for a personal reason.

One of the issues for Williams, according to Rapoport, is that Jamar Taylor was starting over him at nickel cornerback.

Some sources have told Cabot that Williams could be considering retirement while others have said he’s getting a second opinion on his ankle.

Williams, 25, wound up signing on with the Browns as an undrafted free agent out of Pittsburgh back in 2014. He’s currently in the final year of his three-year, $1.53 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $600,000 for the 2016 season.

In 2015, Williams appeared in 13 games and recorded 39 tackles, one sack, three forced fumbles, two recoveries and two pass defenses.
