Browns Tried Out Six Players Including S Phillip Thomas

Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports that the Browns tried out six players in the past few days including: WR Rannell Hall, DB Robert Lester, WR Uzoma Nwachukwu, S Phillip Thomas, DB Tyrequek Zimmerman, and WR Jerry Rice Jr.

Thomas, 26, is a former fourth-round pick of the Redskins back in 2013. He was waived by the Redskins a few months ago in a move that cleared $510,000 in cap space for Washington.

The Dolphins would later sign him to a contract, but he lasted just a few weeks in Miami before he was among their early roster cuts.

In 2014, Thomas appeared in eight games and recorded 27 tackles and fumble recovery. He previously missed the entire 2013 season after he sustained a broken foot.

Lester, 27, wound up signing on with the Panthers as an undrafted free agent out of Alabama back in 2013. Since then, he’s been on an off of the team’s practice squad.

Carolina elected to cut him loose in the first round of roster cuts a few weeks back.

Last year, Lester was limited to appearing in one game and recording just a single tackle for the Panthers.
