Browns Waive OL Nick McDonald

The Cleveland Browns announced that they’ve placed OL Nick McDonald on waivers Wednesday with an injury settlement.

McDonald, 27, originally signed on with the Packers as an undrafted free agent out of Grand Valley State back in 2010. He lasted until the start of the 2011 season with the Packers before he was cut and later signed on to the Patriots’ practice squad.

McDonald spent a year with the Chargers before being claimed off of waivers by the Browns in July of lats year.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing McDonald will free up $745,000 in available cap space while creating no dead money.

In 2014, McDonald appeared in eight games for Cleveland after Alex Mack went down with a season-ending injury. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 39 center out of 41 qualifying players.
