According to OverTheCap.com, releasing McDonald will free up $745,000 in available cap space while creating no dead money.

In 2014, McDonald appeared in eight games for Cleveland after Alex Mack went down with a season-ending injury. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 39 center out of 41 qualifying players.
