Browns Will Interview Doug Marrone & Teryl Austin For HC Job

Update:

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Browns will also interview Lions DC Teryl Austin for their head-coaching vacancy in the coming days.

Dianna Marie Russini of ESPN reports that the Browns will interview Jaguars assistant coach Doug Marrone for their head-coaching job.

  • The Browns are also expected to interview Bears OC Adam Gase at some point in the near future, according to Russini. However, he also has interest from the Dolphins and Eagles.

Russini points out that Browns owner Jimmy Haslam wanted to hire him before he took the Bills job.

Marrone will be an interesting candidate to watch. He’s already been linked to the Saints as a potential replacement to Sean Payton should he depart.

Another option for Marrone could be the Dolphins, who have reportedly discussed the idea of paring him with DC Jim Schwartz.

Last year, Marrone opted out of his contract with the Bills, but was forced to take an assistant role with the Jaguars after teams went in a different direction with their head-coaching vacancies.

In two years with the Bills, Marrone led them to a record of 15-17 (46.9), which included a 9-7 record in his final season.

We’ll have more regarding the Browns as the news is available.
