Browns Will Not Draft Johnny Manziel At No. 4 Overall

Update:

Jay Glazer clarifies that the Browns won’t draft Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel at No. 4 overall.

Glazer adds that the reports of Browns owner Jimmy Haslem will allow the team’s front office to handle the draft and won’t intervene for someone like Manziel, despite the previous reports that Haslem “loves” him.

According to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, the Browns will not draft Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel.

“The Cleveland Browns will not draft Johnny Manziel,” Glazer said during an interview with Fox Sports Radio.

This comes just a day after Ian Rapoport reported that Browns’ owner Jimmy Haslem “loves” Manziel.

Browns owner Jimmy Haslam has a love affair with Manziel,” Rapoport said on “NFL Total Access” Monday, via NFL.com.  “(Haslam) has made no secret of this, in several conversations, according to people I’ve spoken with over the last year or so. This is something that Haslam has made very clear to people he speaks with. He’s an SEC guy … He’s seen Manziel a ton, he loves the way he plays. Plus, there is the thing that he would fill up the seats.”

Many have connected the Browns to Manziel for several months now, so this is actually somewhat shocking to hear.

Glazer is without a doubt one of the most reliable reporters covering the NFL, but it seems a little interesting that definitive news regarding the No. 4 overall pick would be available two days in advance.

The Rams could have interest in Manziel as high as No. 2 overall, but there is also a chance he could drop out out of the top-five picks.

Looks like we’ll have to update our  2014 NFL Mock Draft as we had the the Browns taking Johnny Manziel at No. 4 overall.
