Browns Will Not Franchise RB Peyton Hillis But Could Re-Sign Him

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that the Browns are “unlikely” to use their franchise tag on RB Peyton Hillis but mentions that they do have plans to try to re-sign before the start of free agency.

With D’Qwell Jackson now under contract, it seemed as though the Hillis could be an obvious target for the $7.7 million tag.  Cabot adds that K Phil Dawson could be the one that ends up getting tagged and the team would like to retain other free agents such as Marcus Benard, Mike Adams and Dimitri Patterson.
