Browns WR Rashard Higgins Hoping To Get Extension Done: “I Want To Be In Cleveland”

Browns WR Rashard Higgins tells Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com that he wants to get an extension done to ensure he remains with the team for the foreseeable future.

“I want to be in Cleveland,” Higgins said. “No other team. Tell (John) Dorsey, Tell Lonzo (Alonso Highsmith) to get it done.’’

“I want to be here with everybody,’’ Higgins added. “Just because as a team, how we overcame everything. The 0-16s, the 1-15s, and then for us to almost have winning record, I want to be here for the change.’’

“Tell Lonzo, Dorsey, ya’ll get the deal done, man. Make it happen. Let’s do it.’’

A few weeks ago, Browns GM John Dorsey said they’ve opened extension talks with Higgins, WR Breshad Perriman and OT Greg Robinson

“We’ve had conversations with [their] representatives and we’ll continue to have conversations,” Dorsey said of the two receivers, via Cleveland.com. “Once we get the chance to get the new coaching staff in place and we have an assessment of our team and the positions, then I’ll be able to better answer that question.”

Higgins, 24, is a former fifth-round pick of the Browns back in 2016. He was entering the second year of his four-year, $2.584 million contract when the Browns elected to cut him loose at the start of the 2017 season.

Higgins was later signed to the Browns’ practice squad before eventually being promoted to their active roster during the 2017 season. He’ll be a restricted free agent in the coming months.

In 2018, Higgins appeared in 13 games for the Browns and caught 39 passes for 572 yards receiving and four touchdowns.
