Browns Could Be Zeroing In Clemson QB Deshaun Watson With No. 12 Pick?

Matt Miller of B/R has spoken to multiple scouts, one general manager and even a prominent trainer who have all been told that the Browns are “enamored” with Clemson QB Deshaun Watson, but wouldn’t use the No. 1 overall pick on him.

Cleveland, of course, has two first-round picks to work with this year. Miller’s sources believe the Browns would like to use their No. 12 overall pick on Watson if he’s still available to them.

The Browns will clearly be in the market for help at quarterback, particularly in the draft where they can get someone to develop under HC Hue Jackson.

Watson put together an impressive showing in the National Championship game against a very talented Alabama team.

Even with a strong showing in the biggest game, some have still questioned whether Watson is a first-round talent and pointed to his accuracy issues among other concerns.

Watson won’t participate in this year’s Senior Bowl but there are still plenty of opportunities for him to improve his draft stock at the Scouting Combine and his Pro Day.

During his college career at Clemson, Watson has completed 67.7 percent of his passes for 9,201 yards to go along with 83 touchdowns and 29 interceptions over the course of 32 games. Watson has also contributed 1,744 yards rushing and 21 touchdowns on the ground.
