Browns Sign WR Miles Austin

The Cleveland Browns announced the signing of veteran WR Miles Austin on Thursday.

This news comes shortly reports surfaced the Browns signed WR Earl Bennett to a contract, so they are clearly working to add some depth ahead of training camp.

Santonio Holmes also came up as a speculative option for Cleveland now that they could be without Pro Bowl WR Josh Gordon for most of the 2014 season.

There hasn’t been any reported interest in Austin since he became a free agents months ago, but the Browns are among the most receiver-needy teams in the league, so it’s probably worth a shot bringing him into training camp.

Austin, 29, was designated a post-June 1st release, allowing the Cowboys to free up $5.5 million in space by cutting him.

Last year, Austin compiled 24 receptions for 244 yards receiving over the course of 12 games.

We had him listed as the No. 9 player in our Best Available Free Agents list.
