Ravens Reach An Agreement With LT Bryant McKinnie

The Baltimore Ravens have announced that they’ve reach an agreement on a two-year contract with free agent LT Bryant McKinnie.

  • Jason La Canfora reports that McKinnie’s two-year deal is worth maximum of $7 million.
  • Aaron Wilson reports that McKinnie contract also includes incentives, as well as a signing bonus.
  • Aaron Wilson reports that contract offers from the Dolphins and Chargers “kickstarted” conversations between the Ravens and McKinnie.
  • Wilson adds that McKinnie’s preference was to remain in Baltimore all along.

Clearly, Baltimore could use some extra depth at the position, and there was no better option available in the free agent market than McKinnie. On top of that, his familiarity with their offense is an obvious plus as well.

We had McKinnie listed as the No. 16 player in our Best Available Free Agents list.

Aaron Wilson reports that the free agent LT Bryant McKinnie has received contract offers from both the Chargers and Dolphins.

  • Ian Rapoport reports that McKinnie is still in the process of weighing his options and negotiating his next contract.
  • Wilson adds that the Cowboys have also made an inquired about McKinnie as well.
  • As for the Ravens, they haven’t extended him an offer, but the lines of communication remain open, according to Wilson.

McKinnie, 33, is one of the few free agents garnering a decent amount of interest in recent days, which is most likely due to the fact that he remains the best available left tackle on the market.

Aaron Wilson reports that the San Diego Chargers have made free agent LT Bryant McKinnie a contract offer. Wilson adds that the negotiations are “ongoing.”

  • Earlier in the day, Wilson mentioned that the McKinnie and his reps are still talking to the Dolphins and added that the Ravens “remain a possibility.”
  • Chargers beat writer Kevin Acee mentioned that there’s a very good chance” McKinnie signs with the Chargers.

Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reports that the San Diego Chargers and free agent LT Bryant McKinnie didn’t discuss contract figures during their meeting Tuesday night.

McKinnie mentioned that he’s had “very good” visit so far. The two sides will meet again today and McKinnie informed Wilson that he’ll be taking a physical at some point as well.

The Chargers walked away from this weekend’s draft with Alabama OT D.J. Fluker, but there’s some question as to whether or not he’s capable of playing left tackle in the NFL. McKinnie is the only serviceable left tackle still available in the free agent market, so assuming that everything checks out during his physical, the Chargers could try to get something done sooner rather than later.
