Buccaneers Activing Rookie RB Charles Sims From I.R.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that the Buccaneers are in fact activating rookie RBĀ Charles Sims from injured reserve on Saturday.

  • According to Rapoport, Sims will play in Sunday’s game.

There was talk throughout the week that this move could be coming as Doug MartinĀ is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game due to an ankle injury.

Sims, 24, was taken in the third round of this year’s NFL draft. The Buccaneers like him a lot, which explains why they wereĀ reportedly fielding trade offers for Martin earlier in the week.

Sims will join Bobby Rainey in the Buccaneers’ backfield, but it’s hard to say what kind of workload he’ll see during the first game of his career.
