Buccaneers An Option For OT Matt Kalil If The Vikings Pass On Him?

Stephen Holder of the Tampa Bay Times reports that there has been some “strong suggestions in NFL circles” that the Minnesota Vikings could end up passing on USC OT Matt Kalil, which could shaking things up for the Buccaneers, considering that several draft experts have them taking LSU CB Morris Claiborne with #5 overall pick.

Holder adds that “insiders” have mentioned that Claiborne and Oklahoma State WR Justin Blackmon could end up being options for Minnesota should they pass on Kalil.

This coincides with what Adam Schefter and numerous Vikings fans have been saying for a few weeks now, but the idea of Buccaneers taking an offensive tackle is interesting. As of now, they have Donald Penn at left tackle who still has four years and close to $22 million remaining on his contract and Jeremy Trueblood, but Holder believes that Kalil’s upside could end up playing a part in their decision.

Should Alabama RB Trent Richardson be available to them at #5, you would have to think that he would be the pick, but it appears that they could end up taking an offensive tackle in round one depending on what happens.
