Buccaneers Bench QB Josh Freeman In Favor Of Rookie Mike Glennon

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have decided to bench QB Josh Freeman in favor of the third-round pick QB Mike Glennon.

HC Greg Schiano publicly supported Freeman as their starting quarterback as recently as last week, but clearly the speculation that the team was prepared to make a change at quarterback was spot on.

Freeman has put together a lackluster season through three weeks completing 45.7 percent of his passes and throwing two touchdowns and three interceptions. It was obvious that the Buccaneers had some concerns moving forward, as Glennon was spotted warming up on the sideline during the team’s Week 3 game.

Glennon did show some signs of life during the preseason completing 47.1 percent of his passes for 397 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions. However, there’s likely to be some growing pains. Glennon’s first regular season action comes against the Cardinals this weekend.
