Buccaneers Considering Chargers RB Mike Tolbert?

Roy Cummings of the Tampa Tribune mentions Chargers RB Mike Tolbert as a possible free agent target for the Buccaneers.

San Diego running back Mike Tolbert may be entering his prime as well, but that’s just one of several reasons the Bucs likely will have an interest in luring him to Tampa,” Cummings writes. “The Bucs badly need a third-down back, as well as a back who can hit the right hole with authority in short-yardage and goal-line situations.”

Tolbert, 26, has been very effective in the passing game and on third-downs in recent years. LeGarrette Blount is a better early-down option so adding Tolbert would at least add a weapon out of the backfield for the Buccaneers. San Diego is expected to allow him to test the market so there’s a chance that Tampa Bay may consider adding him.
