Buccaneers Cut QB Mike Kafka & RB Jeff Demps

Ian Rapoport reports that the Buccaneers have cut QB Mike Kafka and RB Jeff Demps as they work to trim their roster to 53 players.

  • Rapoport mentions that Kafka is still eligible for the practice squad thanks to the recent rule change regarding player eligibility.

Kafka, 26, was last with the Jaguars during training camp last year, but was waived before the start of the regular season. He was drafted in the fourth-round of the 2010 NFL Draft by Philadelphia, but only appeared in four games for them.

The Buccaneers signed him to a contract back in February. We’ll have to see if he ends up on their practice squad.

Demps, 24, signed with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of Florida back in 2012. However, he was later traded to the Buccaneers in a deal that sent RB LeGarrette Blount to the Patriots in return for Demps and a 2013 seventh-round pick.
