The Tampa Bay Buccaneers got some good news today when DE Michael Bennett decided to sign his restricted free agent tender which is essentially a one-year deal worth $2.742 million.
The Buc’s placed a first-round tender on him which basically prevented another team from signing him away as he’s clearly not worth that kind of compensation. Because of the fact that Tampa had more than enough cash to work with this year, they could afford to pay him a first-round salary.
Bennett is a versatile defensive lineman that’s great against the run and has some ability to apply pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Pro Football Focus actually rated him as the #8 best 4-3 defensive end last season.
We have him listed as the #20 best available free agent in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
