Buccaneers DT Gerald McCoy Leaves With Calf Injury, Doubtful To Return

Buccaneers Pro Bowl DT Gerald McCoy left Sunday’s game against the Broncos with a calf injury and is considered doubtful to return.

As David Chao mentions, calf injured tend to linger longer than some other injuries and it’s possible that this could end up being a multi-week injury for McCoy.

McCoy, 28, is a former first-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2010. He’s currently in the third year of his eight-year, $108.56 million contract that includes $51.5 million guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $6 million for the 2016 season.

Entering today’s game, McCoy has recorded nine tackles, one sack, and two pass defenses for the Buccaneers over the course of three games. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 10 interior defensive lineman out of 98 qualifying players

We’ll have more regarding McCoy’s injury as the news is available.
