Buccaneers Focused On Hiring Bruce Arians, Negotiations To Begin Soon

According to Ian Rapoport, the Buccaneers are focused on hiring Bruce Arians as their next head coach and there is strong mutual interest in getting a deal done.

Rapoport adds that negotiations are likely to begin soon.

All indications have been that Arians is likely to be hired as the Bucs’ next head coach, so it won’t come as a big surprise to see them get an agreement in place at some point in the near future.

Tampa Bay also interviewed Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy, Vikings DC George Edwards and Cowboys passing game coordinator/DBs coach Kris Richard for the job. Jim Caldwell came up in recent days as a possibility, but the team hasn’t interviewed him.

Arians, 66, was hired by the Cardinals back in 2013 after he filled in for Colts HC Chuck Pagano while he was fighting cancer and managed to win Coach of the Year.

During his five years with the Cardinals, Arians led them to a record of 49-30-1 (61.9 percent), which includes two playoff appearances and a trip to the NFC Championship game in 2015.

We’ll have more regarding Arians as the news is available.

  1. Either way it’s a good hire because he will assemble a great staff. Tampa has plenty of talent. I just don’t think their standard is high enough. They never seem prepared to win

    • Besides the health and family issues. It was reported on this very site a few weeks ago, that Bruce Arians stated, “I will only come back to coaching for the Clevelamd Browns position”. Amazing! The validity held on site sources.
