Buccaneers Rookie RB Doug Martin Continues To Impress

Buccaneers first-round pick RB Doug Martin continues to impress during the team’s training camp workouts and is “clearly the top dog” at this point in time, according to Tom Krasniqi.

It’s starting to look like there’s actually a good chance at his securing the starting job in the coming weeks. LeGarrette Blount will still have a role in the team’s offense, but Martin is clearly in the lead as of now in terms of overall playing time.

Stephen Holder reports that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had first-round pick RB Doug Martin working as their primary running back during the team’s’ first practice of training camp.

While it’s just a single practice, it’s clear that they’re at least willing to Martin the opportunity to secure a larger workload than that of LeGarrette Blount. To be honest, it’s hard to see Blount being anymore than a change of pace player for the Buc’s this season, after he seemed to struggle in all aspects of the game last year, other than that play against the Packers where he ran over the entire defense twice.
