The St. Petersburg Times reports that Buccaneers met with CB Ronde Barber earlier today in an attempt to re-sign the veteran.
“Ronde, coach (Greg) Schiano and I have had several meetings, he knows we’d like him back for a 16th season,” said GM Mark Dominik. “We will respect his wish for a little more time to make his decision and look forward to speaking with him again soon.”
Barber, 37, has been reported to be interested in returning for another season but the question was really if the team was willing to retain him. Depth at cornerback is needed but it’s hard to say that Barber is going to provide much more than leadership for the Buc’s next season.
