Robert Ayers Changes Plans, Will Meet With Jaguars Instead Of Dolphins

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media is now reporting that free agent DE Robert Ayers is changed his plans and is now heading to visit with the Jaguars instead of the Dolphins.

  • Charles Robinson thinks the Jaguars will ultimately get Ayers signed to a contract during his visit and prevent him from meeting with other teams.
  • Jaguars GM David Caldwell told reporters he has been in contact with agent for Ayers. (Mark Long)

Ayers met with the Buccaneers earlier in the day.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Buccaneers are hosting DE Robert Ayers for a visit.

  • Peter Schrager reports that Ayers will also be visiting with the Dolphins once his meeting with the Buccaneers has concluded.

Ayers, 30, is coming off of his best season in the NFL and is among the best defensive ends in this year’s free agent class.

In 2015, Ayers appeared in 12 games and recorded 41 tackles, nine sacks, two forced fumbles and four pass defenses for the Giants.
