Buccaneers Hosting Former Falcons C Joe Hawley For A Visit

Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Tribune reports that the Buccaneers are hosting former Falcons C Joe Hawley on Wednesday.

  • Stroud points out that Hawley spent time working with new Buccaneers OC Dirk Koetter in Atlanta last year.

It’s interesting to see the Buccaneers bring in a center for a workout after they signed Evan Dietrich-Smith to a  four-year, $14.25 million contract last offseason. Although, they could be just looking to bolster their interior offensive line depth.

Hawley, 26, was taken in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Falcons. Atlanta wound up signing him to a two-year, $6 million contract that included $3 million guaranteed back in March of 2014.

However, Hawley was unfortunately among the Falcons’ recent roster cuts.

In 2014, Hawley was limited to appearing in just four games after he sustained a knee injury and was later placed on season-ending injured reserve.
