Buccaneers Officially Activate RB Doug Martin From Suspension

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced Monday that they’ve officially activated RB Doug Martin from the suspended list and waived TE Alan Cross to make room for him.

It will be interesting to see how quickly the Buccaneers work Martin into the mix and how much work he gets for them in the coming weeks.

Jacquizz Rodgers currently leads the team in rushing with just 165 yards over the course of three games, so they could really use some help at the position.

Martin, 28, is a former first-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2012. He’s currently in the first year of his five-year, $35.75 million contract that includes $15 million guaranteed. Martin stands to make a base salary of $4 million for the 2016 season.

In 2016, Martin has rushed for 421 yards on 114 carries (2.9 YPC) to go along with 14 receptions for 134 yards receiving and three touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 44 running back out of 62 qualifying players.
