Buccaneers Preparing To Release S Dashon Goldson

Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports that the Buccaneers are preparing to release S Dashon Goldson once they have a deal with S Chris Conte.

Tampa Bay has clearly been trying to turn the page on Goldson for some time now given that previous reports had said that they made him available for trade at the deadline last year.

Goldson, 30, signed a five-year, $41.25 million contract that included $22 million guaranteed with the Bucs back in March of last year.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Goldson will free up $4 million in available cap space while creating $4 million in dead money.

In 2014, Goldson appeared in 14 games and recorded 81 tackles, a fumble recovery and a pass defense for the Buccaneers. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 86 safety out of 87 qualifying players.
