Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston Nearing Return From Shoulder Injury

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston is nearing a return from the shoulder injury he’s been sidelined with the past few weeks.

“I’m told a couple weeks ago he had PRP injections — platelet-rich plasma treatment — in other words, blood spinning,” Rapoport said. “[It is] something that is used often, especially by high-profile athletes, during rehab to quicken the recovery. It takes about two weeks to take hold for Winston. He does have an MRI on Monday and the team is holding out hope before saying anything. They want to find out the actual terms and what happens during the MRI, but I am told he feels great, looks great, and his return is coming.

Ryan Fitzpatrick has filled in for Winston while he’s been out and managed to come away with a victory over the Dolphins last weekend.

Winston has recently been accused of groping an Uber driver several months ago, but he has denied the allegations (NFLTR).

Winston, 23, is a former first-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2015. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $25.35 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $615,000 and $705,000 over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2017, Winston has appeared in eight games and thrown for 1,920 yards while completing  61.4 percent of his passes to go along with 10 touchdowns and six interceptions. He has also rushed for 51 yards. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 15 quarterback out of 34 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Winston as the news is available.
