Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon Reportedly On Jets’ Radar

Rich Cimini of ESPN reports that there’s “plenty of buzz” surrounding QB Mike Glennon as free agency draws closer.

  • According to Cimini, the Jets figure to be one of the suitors for Glennon, given their obvious need for a starting-caliber quarterback to go along with developmental prospects Christian Hackenberg and Bryce Petty.
  • Cimini mentions that the “word on the street” is that Glennon will get a call from the Jets, but he could also draw interest from the Bills, Browns, Bears and 49ers.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter previously wrote that Glennon is one of the quarterbacks worth keeping an eye on during the offseason, as he could be in the best position to cash in as a free agent. In fact, Schefter believes Glennon could command as much as $13-$15 million per year in his next contract and possibly more, depending on how many teams are involved.

Jets GM Mike Maccagnan previously had interest in Glennon back in 2015 when the Jets were in the trade market but wound up swinging a deal with the Texans for Ryan Fitzpatrick instead.

Glennon, 26, is a former third-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2013. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $3.104 million rookie contract and stands to make a reasonable base salary of $675,000 for the 2016 season.

In 2016, Glennon appeared in two games for the Buccaneers threw for 75 yards while completing 10 of 11 pass attempts to go along with one touchdown and no interceptions.

We’ll have more regarding the Jets and their options at quarterback as the news is available.
