Buccaneers RB Doug Martin Suffered Setback, No Timetable To Return

Buccaneers HC Dirk Koetter told reporters on Wednesday that RB Doug Martin suffered an injury setback a week ago and is currently with a timetable to return, per Scott Smith.

Martin was expected to be out about three weeks with a hamstring injury but it sounds like he’s going to need some more time.

Tampa Bay has been forced to rely on Jacquizz Rodgers as their featured back after Charles Sims also got hurt. The Buccaneers signed veteran Antone Smith recently and have Peyton Barber on their roster as well.

Martin, 27, is a former first-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2012. He’s currently in the first year of his five-year, $35.75 million contract that includes $15 million guaranteed. Martin stands to make a base salary of $4 million for the 2016 season.

This season, Martin has rushed for 85 yards on 25 carries (3.4 YPC) to go along with five receptions for 34 yards receiving and no touchdowns.

We’ll have more regarding Martin’s injury as the news is available.
